  2. 2. How do I access and open an account on XS4ALL ?

  4. To Connect to our system: 
  5. Our dial in modem numbers are:
  6. 020-6222175     2400-28800 bps, 100 lines. 
  7. 020-6265060     19200 bps for ZyXEL modems, 20 lines.
  8.  
  9. Dial 020-6222175 (modem speeds up to 28800 bps max.). 
  10. Dial 020-6265060 (ZyXEL modems, speeds to 19200 bps). 
  11. From another Internet site by the UNIX command...
  12. ‚Äòtelnet xs4all.nl‚Äô or  ‚Äòtelnet 193.78.33.42‚Äô 
  13. This can be done from the ‚Äòfree‚Äô public system ‚ÄòDe Digitale Stad‚Äô (020-6225222).

  15. When you are connected, login as ‚Äònew‚Äô (all lowercase characters) and enter 
  16. the requested information. Choose an account name carefully. It will be 
  17. combined with our system name ‚Äòxs4all.nl‚Äô to make the e-mail address on 
  18. which you will be known on the Internet. For example choosing ‚Äòjohn‚Äô will 
  19. name you ‚Äòjohn@xs4all.nl‚Äô. You cannot change this afterwards. Choose a 
  20. password that you will not forget. The password will be case-sensitive, so 
  21. remember capital characters.

  23. A good password, for example is... %KK%p)p   Using UPPER and lower case letters and some of the charactors like... #%^&*()_+=-) makes it much harder
  24. for someone to crack your password (a rare chance, but possible).

  26. You can always make changes to passwords by the UNIX command... passwd
  27. It looks like this ...  
  28. xs1:/home/m/machelp $ passwd

  36. You won't see yourself type in the password change, so think and remember 
  37. your new password before you make the changes to it.

  39. After this ‚Äònew‚Äô procedure, you can wait for the invoice which will be sent 
  40. by regular mail or write down our (Post)bank number and client name
  41. and make the transfer yourself. We will activate your account as soon
  42. as we receive a confirmation of your payment. After activation you
  43. can enter the system.
